By-Law For the Line of Succession
Following a demise of the Master, the Member of the Society first in line of succession is appointed Master.
All Members are admitted to the line of succession in the order in which they made their oath. Members may challenge other Members in the line of succession,
such that they can move up (it is also possible to challenge the Master directly, but doing this would be considered very bad form).
A challenge requires the challenger to put two differently-coloured winks of a partnership into the drink of the Member they are challenging.
They then play a five game match, with the winner decided by points (a challenge to the Master requires a seven game match).
It is also possible to move up in the line of succesion by two other means: being awarded the Master's Cup, or by winning St Michael's Cup (the Michaelmas Novice Tournament).
