Master of the Winks

The full title of the Master of the Winks is: N, by the grace of the Tiddlies, of the Winks of Oxford and of their other dominions beyond the Thames Valley, Master, Chief Squopper, Defender of the Pot.

The Master of the Winks has many responsibilities which include: to be consulted, to advise, and to warn; to assent to the passing of motions and to enact bye-laws; to represent the Society to the public; to continue the quest for a Blue; and to oversee all activites of Oxford Tiddlywinks Society.

The Master should also coach new members on techniques and skills, so that they can learn and improve. They must also keep the Line of Succession up to date and encourage members to challenge each other.

The registrar shall maintain and distribute the Documents Pertaining to the Society.

They must maintain and distribute the documents pertaining to the Society, act as Returning Officer for all elections, except where they themselves are standing for election in which case they shall arrange for an alternative Returning Officer being a person not standing for election

Bursar

The bursar is responsible for managing the finance of the society. Their job is to track and keep the balance of income and spendings by keeping proper financial records of the Society. They also set the subscriptions for members each term.

Captain of the First Winking Team

The Captain of the First Winking Team leads the first winking team in tournaments. They decide on combat strategies and distributes them to the team members.

During society activities and training sessions, they should help all members of the society to refine their skills.

Press and IT Officer

Press and IT officer maintains the Oxford Tiddlywinks Society Facebook Page, Instagram page, official website and (in future!) a YouTube channel.

Entertainment and Welfare Officer

Entertainment and Welfare officer provides entertainment to society members, including pub trips, food nights etc. The officer(s) may also be responsible for the welfare of members.

Bye-Law For the Line of Succession

Following a demise of the Master, the Member of the Society first in line of succession is appointed Master.

All Members are admitted to the line of succession in the order in which they made their oath. Members may challenge other Members in the line of succession, such that they can move up (it is also possible to challenge the Master directly, but doing this would be considered very bad form).

A challenge requires the challenger to put two differently-coloured winks of a partnership into the drink of the Member they are challenging. They then play a five game match, with the winner decided by points (a challenge to the Master requires a seven game match).

It is also possible to move up in the line of succesion by two other means: being awarded the Master's Cup, or by winning St Michael's Cup (the Michaelmas Novice Tournament).
